Dante and Blays have forced Gladdic from the Collen Basin. But the victory might be only the first battle in a much larger war. With the land on the brink of starvation and politically fractured, Dante and Blays scramble to secure Collen's food, borders, and allies. Before their work is done, rumor arrives from Mallon. The enemy is mustering for another attack.

Even if Collen can weather the coming storm, there's no guarantee their independence will last out the year. During a border raid, Dante learns Gladdic has fled to the shadowy realm of Tanar Atain, home of the Andrac.

And the secrets Gladdic returns with could tip the balance of power forever.

Wow! This book was absolutely fantastic. New readers should start at the beginning of the series. There is just so much more you need to know before you read this latest installment. This book is the culmination/continuation of a great tale. Other world fantasy with magic, battles, betrayals, alliances, reunions and so much more. The adventures of Dante Galand and Blays Buckler continue. My favorite sentence in the whole book is "This isn't the last book in The Cycle of Galand. When you reach the end and it feels like there's still more story to tell, don't worry. There is.

Thank You Mr. Robertson!

The Wound of the World The Cycle of Galand Book 3 (Audible Audio Edition) Edward W Robertson Tim Gerard Reynolds Podium Publishing Books Reviews

I just love Dante and Blays! I thought that I would stop with their first trilogy but I just seem to keep reading. The world building continues on as new characters emerge. The excitement still has me on the edge of my seat. And I'm still looking forward to two to three more books in the series! Please keep writing Mr.Robertson!
As always, I enjoy Edward's books. All of them have been 4 and 5 star books. I found this one to be a 4 star just because it didn't seem to grab my attention as much as some of the other ones. The overall narrative didn't seem to move forward as much as I'd have liked either. BUT I definitely liked it. Edward has a natural writing style that never comes across as forced and is very creative with his world building - which is important in the fantasy genre.

I will definitely be continuing to read this series.
Another great read from Mr. Robertson, continuing the tales of Dante and Blays. One thing I love about Mr. Robertson's writing is the humor he interjects into the dialogue. Even in tense situations, Blays seems to have some wisecrack that makes me laugh. I was so pleased to see that more books about these two are promised. The only thing I hate about Mr. R.'s books is when they end. I get so involved in the characters and their stories, and I just want them to keep on going. Lucky for me, Mr. R. seems to spend loads of time writing (I posted on his FB page that George R. R. Martin could learn a thing or two from him), so there will be more good stories for me in the future. )
The cycle of Galand, and the previous series (The cycle of Arawn) are some of the best adventure fantasy books I have ever read. The subject matter is thrilling. The series has plenty of twists for the readers as well. Some content may be inappropriate for the younger readers, but should be fine for teens and up. This book in particular has a wonderful balance of dark magic war torn countries, and strong character building. There are also enough lighthearted moments to add a sense of reality to this book. I highly recommend reading these 2 series.
Having read through the Cycle Arwan and the Breakers series, I was fairly pleased with this as the first step into the Cycle of Galland series. Logically it drew back to the original story line and made the readers remember, or learn for the first time, interesting tidbits about past events and their nuances to the present story. What became harder to read was the second half of the book's environment. The murky setting seemed to have an effect on the author's ability to clearly describe location and setting. Several times I had to reread pages because descriptions weren't making sense.
However that being the only difficulty to reading this book. It still leaves the reader craving more definition to the developing characters. They are evolving in very intriguing ways. Mr. Robertson shows his special talent in character development.
I look forward to getting into the second edition of the Cycle of Galland series.
Hahaha, I don't often write gushing reviews, but this one is certainly merited. I am very impressed with the author's ability to continue to improve upon this story. I know it is early in his career and I know how huge a claim I am making with this next statement, but, I mean it, he could one day be on Tolkien status. All he lacks, currently, is the ability to develop even more characters during the spinning of his tales. This series is amazing. Dante and Blays are two of my favorite characters of any story and he seems to currently be fleshing out a few others. If he can weave them all into an epic quest (or several!) he will definitely reach that much vaunted and coveted spot (at least in my opinion).
Robertson never disappoints. I bought The Wound of the World the day it was released, but did so with a bittersweet click of the mouse. I didn't want Dante's and Blay's journey to end, and the gods must've heard my plea - because we haven't seen the last of the dastardly duo and the rest of Robertson's troupe of character perfection. The adventure is fresh, with more knowledge of the ether and nether coming to light, and enough of the familiar denizens of Robertson's imagination to cozy up with in companionable comfort. Pick it up with confidence.
