Tale #2 Baad Dog
Since when did man's best friend become his very own worst nightmare?
Pam suspects that the cute, lovable little pup her husband, Harry, brings home is actually a cunning, diabolical killer. But that's crazy talk! Or will she make the horrible mistake of waiting until her children are at the mercy of their murderous new pet. What would you do?

Don't lose your teeth. You need your teeth! Author Christopher Locke says "For anyone who's a fan of 'Tales From the Crypt,' you'll get a kick out of this deranged tale that has some fun and unexpected twists." Tale # 4 The Power
Sal Conte's pulp fiction classic from the 80s has been remastered and is available now only in this package. "He was just an average kid. Twisty Tales of Terror eBook Sal Conte
I don't always read a lot of horror, preferring to stay in my fantasy land of mushy romance or the witty and comical stories often association with paranormal nowadays...but then I stumbled across Sal Conte. And by stumbled across, what I mean is I was on the internet and took a few too many wrong turns down dark alleys after a few too many drinks, and suddenly found myself in a darkened warehouse staring his work in the face.
So I opened it up and read a page, and thought to myself, "This isn't so bad, i'll keep going."
The story progressed and suddenly there was a tickling on the back of my neck.
The tree outside my window seemed to cast shadows like never before.
The wind howled in a way that made me paranoid to be alone.
I was reading horror, and I had fallen in faster than I could run.
Sal Conte made me scared of little dogs because of his story "Baad Dog"
He made me scared of teddy bears, thanks to "The Secrets of Love and Death"
I didn't think it was possible, but boy was I proved wrong.
The other stories are equally as intriguing and bring just the right amount of horror to the everyday to make you question your own sanity.
I highly recommend this box set, because it really is a great deal.
If you're curious about trying out this man's work, my best advice is to just dive in.
No hesitation.

Twisty Tales of Terror eBook Sal Conte Reviews
Twisty Tales Of Terror is a Great Set of Books from one of favorite horror authors.
Because We Told Her To is a short story that I read in one sitting. It begins in present tense with the narrator explaining her present situation and then going back to "the beginning" and explaining the events leading up to where she is now.
An offer to babysit two little girls seems like a great opportunity, but soon turns into something sinister. These girls are not what they seem and the games they like to play aren't fun for everyone. I don't like too give much plot away, but I'll tell you no amount of money would be worth it to keep an eye on those two!
Sal Conte spins a good tale of suspense mixed with some humor, in what I liken to a "Twilight Zone" type episode. The length was perfect
for this story, but I must confess I hope to see more tales of the "Twitter Sisters".
The Toothache Man
Jim has a terrible toothache, but doesn't have a dental plan and can't afford see a dentist. But Jim has a plan. He was referred by a girl he met to the "Toothache Man".
The Toothache Man is a dentist that had his license suspended and now works "underground" and helps people for a fraction of the cost of other dentists.
This is a short horror story that will give you the creeps as well as a few good chuckles. A great read you can finish in one sitting.
Baad Dog
Harry wanted a dog. Not just any dog, but a small dog. A cute little dog like the one he and his brother had when he was a boy. Her name was Queenie. Harry and his brother really loved Queenie, but they didn’t take very good care of her needs like feeding her and walking her, so their mom sent her away to live with another family.
One day Harry came across a store that sold life-like mechanical dogs. Just out of curiosity, because Harry wanted a REAL dog, not some robot.. The salesman, Archibald Galdensen, seemed to be very well informed on how these robot-dogs worked. He told Harry that even though they looked and acted just like a REAL dog, they didn’t require any of the usual caretaking obligations like feeding and walking. They looked completely life-like, too. Nobody would tell Harry didn’t have a real dog.
Mr Galdensen asked Harry what type of dog he prefered and what sex. Harry told him he wanted a cute little mixed breed and female. He basically was describing Queenie, the dog he had as a boy. Pretty soon, Harry was walking out with a new dog-a very expensive, mechanical, dog.
Harry knew his wife Pam didn’t want any dogs. He knew he was going to have one hell of a time explaining to her why he came home with one. He also knew once his kids saw Queenie, as he name her, (after his boyhood dog), they would fall in love and Pam would not be able to say “no”.
As soon as Harry told her Queenie wouldn’t eat or poop like a real dog, she would accept Queenie into the family. Everything would work itself out.
Harry was right. At first, Pam wasn’t happy that Harry brought home a dog without consulting her first, but after seeing how happy their two children, Ariel and her brother, Jackson were and how much they loved playing with Queenie, she agreed the dog could stay.
For a while, things were great. Ariel and Jackson loved Queenie, and Harry finally had his dog. Then one day, something happened that shouldn’t have. After that things were a little off with Queenie. Things started to happen. Some things that just didn’t seem right.
Was Queenie really just a computer run dog with a glitch? Or was something deeper and more sinister happening?
Sal Conte writes horror that starts you off feeling confident you won’t be scared, but then builds a story that has you keeping the lights on at night. When I began Baad Dog, I felt like I was riding a roller coaster of reading, the story building, the tension getting greater. It keep me on edge, as most of his books do. It was clear to me Queenie wasn’t what Harry thought and that things would not end too well.
Baad Dog is a novella that only took me about a day and a half to read. It had a pace that started off creeping along and then shot off into a nail biting suspense thriller. Beware the BAAD DOG!
So far I have read Baad Dog and Because She Told Me To; I really don't want to say much about Baad Dog, other than I liked it; and Queenie is certainly not K-9! I had no clue who would survive and not. (I enjoy not being able to predict what's going to happen, part of why I don't want to give any of it away).
In Because She Told Me To, it starts out innocently enough; but even with such a short story you get a good feel for Kim. And ending totally unexpected too. Sent chills down my spine. A seriously good horror tale. And in the beginning, a paragraph about an iPad makes a lot more sense!
This one reminded me of Sake. (The writer)
