The Bee Hunter George Harold Edgell 9781163136874 Books
"The Bee Hunter" - 1949 - by Edgell is an old style, folksy, charming tale of how to hunt bee trees. The author lived in the New Hampshire woods, but I suspect his techniques would work most anywhere there are wild bee tree with the s. As the author's techniques kill the swam, I would not recommend this for modern use as too many of our wild bees are going extinct. The work contains directions for a "box" which is used to harbor the collection of bees captured to establish the bee line. The directions are sufficient for an individual with wood working skills, but hardly would do for an amateur in woodworking. Otherwise Edgell's directions for bee hunting are easily followed by anyone with an acquaintance with the ways of the woods. Following the brief, but sufficient, directions are a series of simple, well told anecdotes about bee hunting.
The Bee Hunter I recommend for anyone wanting to know more about old woodsy ways.

The Bee Hunter George Harold Edgell 9781163136874 Books Reviews
interesting story but not that helpful for learning. enjoyed the read but wish I had looked somewhere else for info that I could use.
The beelining equipment and techniques are the best I've seen. I plan to use this information to find good places to set up swarm traps next spring.
Really interesting historical information. How to track bees, find their tree and cut it down for honey. Not the best plan these days but tracking them is still relevant.
Very nice book on bee hunting. Written many years ago, but the equipment and procedures are just as true today. Enjoyed it very much!!
If you are a beekeeper this is a classic reference for your book shelf. I'd love to find an original print.
Fun to read.
